Instituto de Lengua y Cultura de Yucatán has teamed together with US Healthcare Professionals to develop a Spanish Medical Program intended for all medical providers who desire to understand and communicate more effectively with their Hispanic patiens.

To ensure that students will develop the skills necessary to succeed in effectively communicating with their Hispanic patients, our students will use a variety of high quality materials and the latest total immersion techniques. Also available for students' benefit is a special five hour Culture Course where you will focus on learning about Mexico's cultures, beliefs, and home remedies.

Upon completing our Medical Spanish Program, doctors, nurses, or anyone else in the healthcare profession will feel more comfortable in dealing with their Hispanic patients because they will understand their background and way of thinking.

The prices listed are for 20 or 25 hours per week (Monday through Friday) with a shared bedroom and bathroom (with another student or family member of same sex and similar age) in a Mexican family home. Up to eight days and 7 nights are included for each week of instruction. We ask students let the Instituto de Lengua y Cultura de Yucatan know if they will be staying longer, as there is a charge for additional days of room and board.

** Mexican family Homestay includes 3 meals a day.

The total program price must be paid in full within 2 days after your start date, or a 10% surcharge may be applied. We are not able to accept credit cards at this time, however, personal checks can be used.

Mérida offers a wide range of hotel options, from quaint, value hotels to five-star world class suites. The Instituto de Lengua y Cultura de Yucatán has obtained a special rate for the participants in the Medical Spanish Program with Hotel Hyatt, a 5-star hotels with a covenient location, great facilities and excellent service. The price (for 2004-2005 is $62.00 usd per night plus tax) single or double occupancy, and may include up to two children under 12 at no additional charge!
